PRESS RELEASE
Stockholm, Sweden
The Nordic Edge mobile client Pledge is now available with the Verisec authentication server Freja. With Pledge, users can generate onetime passwords on their mobile devices which they can use to secure log in to local networks, cloud services or Internet banks.
Pledge is a mobile client application used to generate one-time passwords (OTP) based on the OATH algorithm. The one-time password is used to achieve strong authentication to services. Pledge can be used as a complement to existing authentication methods (such as hardware tokens, SMS authentication or certificates) or act as a stand-alone authentication method.
The client software can handle multiple, simultaneous logins on different servers, so only one client is required on the phone even if the user needs to log on to several connections at the same time. Pledge comes with a signing functionality, so the phone can be used for example to sign inquiries from a customer service, to sign transactions, or for auction bidding.
- Using the mobile phone as your security device is a great way for users to get a high mobility while simultaneously keeping high security standards. Pledge is easy to use and is simple, cheap and efficient to enroll to a high number of users, says Tord Fransson, Product Manager Nordic Edge.
Nordic Edge has over the past year produced mobile clients for the world's most popular mobile phones such as Blackberry, iPhone and Android phones. Pledge is also available for Windows Mobile and for phones supporting Java Micro Edition.

Freja is an OATH compliant authentication server for medium to large deployments of strong authentication. Freja can be used together with Pledge and any OATH compliant devices allowing for maximum freedom in choosing form factors for authentication adapted to security and user requirements.
In addition, Freja supports extended authentication using EAS (Employee Authentication Service) for local and central government in the UK. By extending the use of EAS to allow remote access with EAS issued tokens, benefits from the enrollment and registration processes can be maximised.
- With the Pledge client new and existing customers can combine or replace traditional token devices with the flexibility and ease-of-use offered by a mobile client. Combining the use of the mobile phone with an OATH based token allows our customers to combine high security and high usability in a cost effective solution, says Johan Henrikson, CEO Verisec.
During the past year Verisec has expanded into the UK marketplace, combining strong authentication for medium size to mass market applications based on open standards.
